How to create & add a product video to your listing
Attract your customers attention with an eye-catching short video of your products.
It could be showing off the finished product or showing parts of your process.
Once uploaded the video will be available for customers to play when they are looking through your product images both on desktop & mobile.
The video must be less than 5mb and be an mp4 file otherwise you will get an error when trying to upload.
An easy way to do this is in Canva. You can create an mp4 file and check the size of the file when downloaded before you attempt to upload to your Madeit listing.
As an example - I had a 7 sec video that was uploaded into Canva. I created a new design called Mobile Video and when I 'shared' the file you get to choose the file type and quality which will affect the size. This 7 sec video when shared as 480p came out at 2.9mb so was able to be uploaded into the product listing.
How to create your video for your product listing
- Record a video less that is less than 10 seconds (suggested to meet size requirements) or edit a current video using an app such as Capcut. It is best to create video in portrait mode to suit the layout of the images.
- Upload the video into Canva. (There may be other programs that allow you to change the file & size so be sure to share this with our support team so we can add to this help doc)
- In Canva create a new design and type mobile video in the search bar and then select Mobile Video
- Select your video for this design, mute the sound if required. Canva has several options for editing so do as much as you require.
- When ready to download from Canva go to Share in top right corner then select Download
- Ensure file type is mp4 and change the quality to 480p - this will reduce the size of the file.
- Once downloaded you will see the file in your download folder. You can check the size here too to ensure it is less than the required 5mb.
- Once you have your video that is the correct size you can add this to your product listing.
- Once uploaded, save your listing and then go to your product in your store to check the video. It will show in the product image carousel as the last image with a Play Button to highlight it is a video.
