How to add Product Tags

Product Tags are an important feature of your product listing. They are a keyword that allows your products to show up in customer searches and when the Madeit team set up specific collections that are not an actual category. There is no limit to the tags you enter but we do ask for them to be relevant to your products and the categories they belong to.

There may be instances where the Madeit team via the weekly email, Facebook lives or social media posts will instruct you to use a certain product tag to be featured in that collection.

It's easy to add product tags. In your product listing go to the Product Tags field under the Product Description. Enter the tag using all lower case and finish with a comma then select Enter. They will show up as a green label in that field. A product tag can be one word or multiple words with a hyphen in between.

Tags that we recommend you use where relevant all the time:

  • free shipping (where you offer free shipping)
  • name of the category and sub-category your product belongs to eg jewellery, earrings,
  • other relevant keywords for your products eg ladies, dangle, resin-earrings, handmade, handmade-jewellery, etc
  • types of materials, events or seasons that suit your product eg formal-jewellery, casual-jewellery, colourful-jewellery, silver, silver-jewellery, summer-earrings, mothers-day etc

There may be instances where you can add additional product tags to be featured in current collections on the Madeit website. This will be noted in the weekly artist email, during Facebook lives and/or social media posts. Examples may include:

  • Mothers Day - mothersday
  • Christmas - christmas
  • Pottery - pottery
  • Ceramics - ceramics
  • Handmade baskets - handmade-baskets or handmadebaskets

There are several product tags that are automated and may be added to your product listing by the system or the Madeit team. These can include the New Arrivals and Staff Picks.

🌟 It is important to use the correct format for product tags that has been provided. An example of this could be: mothers-day and mothersday

  • mothers-day (with a hyphen - would be the event that a customer might search for)
  • mothersday (without the dash) - is the keyword to appear in the mothers day collection
  • do not use symbols or emojis in your product tags - such as hashtag#, & etc

What the product tag section looks like when product tags have been added.
